The team is composed of a mixture of medical students and doctors, supported by a large number of senior medical student and doctor volunteers on an annual basis.
Dr Fasih Khan
MBCHB, MRCP, PGCert Med Ed, AFFMLM
Dr Fasih Khan is the founder and lead of Med Success. He graduated in 2010 from the University Of Leicester before going on to undertake his foundation training locally. During this period, he attained membership to the Royal College of Physicians and also held the position of Chief Registrar.
He is a registrar in Respiratory and General Medicine but currently undertaking doctoral research at the University of Nottingham. He sits on the British Thoracic Society ILD specialist advisory group, peer reviews for a number of leading medical journals and has presented at international conferences.
He is passionate about widening participation which led him to establish Empower Youth Academy (an educational charity encouraging the holistic development of socially deprived young people) He enjoys teaching and holds a postgraduate certificate in medical education.
Dr Hazeerah Ishaq
I graduated in 2017 from the University of Leicester. I am currently an Internal Medical trainee at Leicester Royal Infirmary and am working towards a career in Respiratory medicine. Having co-lead Med Success over the last few years I am passionate about education and helping students achieve their goals and strive for success.
Dr Anirudh Kumar
Dr Anirudh Kumar graduated from the University of Leicester in 2016, and undertook his foundation and core medical training in the East Midlands and South Yorkshire respectively. He currently works as an acute medicine specialty doctor, and was the RCP Associate Tutor at his trust from 2019-20.
He is passionate about mentoring aspiring medical students from a widening participation background, having volunteered for MedReach and the Social Mobility Foundation since 2013 and 2018 respectively. He has been involved with Med Success for 6 years.
I graduated in 2018 from the University of Leicester and am now working towards a surgical career in trauma and orthopaedics. I’m currently taking an F3 and am working at the major trauma centre at the QE in Birmingham. I’ve been part of the med success team since my second year of university and am passionate about teaching and medical education.
Dr Emily Ratford

I graduated from the University of Leicester in 2019, having also done a intercalated degree in Biological Sciences with first class honours. I am currently on a medical education academic programme, working in Hull. I have interests in Anaesthetics and intensive care medicine. I hope to specialise in Anaesthetics.
Dr Adam Mohammad
BSc (Hons), MBChB
I completed a degree in Medial Microbiology at the University of Leicester, receiving First Class with Honours, before gaining my medical degree at Leicester Medical School. During my time at medical school I volunteered with Med Success, before eventually helping to run the event as part of the committee. I am involved with making sure the website and logistics are kept running smoothly as well as general support with planning of Med Success.
I am currently undertaking my foundation training in the Leicester, Northamptonshire, and Rutland deanery, with a view to complete surgical training for a career in plastic surgery. Other interests include quality improvement, in which I have helped to improve consent processes and clerking pathways in departments of plastic surgery and trauma and orthopaedics, respectively.
Having come from a school which is representative of the target demographic of Med Success, I am passionate about trying to improve outreach and opportunities for all.
